HOLE 1
PAR 4 / HCP 1
SO YEON RYU
« The tee shot is not that difficult. However on the right of the fairway, a large tree can get in the way of the second shot, especially if the pin is placed on the right of the green. I try to hit a slight draw with my driver so that my ball ends up on the left of the fairway, which is now quite large since the greens were re-designed. Be careful when the pin is on the left: club selection is crucial for this tricky position. »

HOLE 2
PAR 3 / HCP 17
SO YEON RYU
« This is a severely downhill par 3. It is extremely hard to gauge the distance and strength of the wind. Choosing the right club becomes a real challenge. The green slopes downwards with the upper tier to the right and the lower tier to the left. It is advisable to play past the pin and finish with an uphill putt, which is easier. »

HOLE 3
PAR 4 / HCP 7
SO YEON RYU
« On this par 4, it is possible to play over the left-hand bunker but not the one to the right. It is wiser to lay up short. I generally hit a 3-wood, sometimes driver. You can try for birdie on this hole but this means playing quite aggressively before approaching the green.»

HOLE 4
PAR 4 / HCP 3
INBEE PARK - 2012 EVIAN MASTERS WINNER
« A solid drive is required on this uphill par 4. The fairway slopes quite severely from left to right. The second shot, still playing uphill, is pretty challenging with the ball often below your feet. This requires precision and you need to adjust your distance. »
-
HOLE 5
PAR 3 / HCP 5
INBEE PARK - 2012 EVIAN MASTERS WINNER
« A par 3 with a green guarded by water to the front and right. You must make sure you use a club with enough distance to get past the water hazard and aim for the left side of the green. »
-
HOLE 6
PAR 4 / HCP 4
INBEE PARK - 2012 EVIAN MASTERS WINNER
“ On this par 4, it is important to avoid the left-side bunkers with your tee shot. Even though you might finish too far right, in the rough, you still need to try for the right of the fairway. The front of the green slopes quite steeply from left to right. It is preferable to aim for the left of the green. “
-
HOLE 7
PAR 5 / HCP 11
STACY LEWIS
“The key thing on this hole is to play a smart approach to the green. Sometimes, depending on the conditions, you can reach the green in 2, but watch out for the bunkers. You must make sure you can play over the bunkers if you go for this option. Otherwise, you can play safe on this par 5 in 3 shots, laying your second shot up short of the bunkers, which generally leaves a short iron or even a wedge. ”
-
HOLE 8
PAR 3 / HCP 16
STACY LEWIS
“On this mid-length par 3, you would generally choose a 6 or 7-iron. The green is one of the narrowest on the course. Accurate distance control is required. ”
-
HOLE 9
PAR 5 / HCP 12
STACY LEWIS
“Holes 7, 8 and 9 offer the opportunity to gain an edge on your competitors. Hole 9 is a par 5 that can easily be reached in 2, most players expect to make birdie, sometimes even eagle with a solid second shot. The key to success is simple: a solid drive makes it easy to reach the green in 2. ”
-
HOLE 10
PAR 4 / HCP 6
MICHELLE WIE
“Even though I sometimes try the driver off the tee to make it over the trees, most of the time I opt for a 3-wood. I am then left with a 130-yard shot which I play with a 9-iron or wedge. ”
-
HOLE 11
PAR 4 / HCP 9
MICHELLE WIE
« I hit a 3-wood just to the left of the bunkers. The fairway brings the ball back a little to the left. I am usually left with a 9-iron to reach the green.»
-
HOLE 12
PAR 4 / HCP 2
MICHELLE WIE
«I hit my driver over the bunkers and am usually left with a wedge shot. The green slopes severely from right to left so I make sure I play short and to the left of the pin which leaves me with an easier putt. »

HOLE 13
PAR 4 / HCP 18
AI MIYAZATO - 2009 AND 2011 EVIAN MASTERS WINNER
“The most important thing on this dogleg left is the tee shot. If you miss your shot to the left, you have no hope of reaching the green in 2. You need to aim for the right of the fairway. This leaves me with a long shot, but I can make it with my 3-wood. “
-
HOLE 14
PAR 3 / HCP 14
AI MIYAZATO - 2009 AND 2011 EVIAN MASTERS WINNER
“This is a really long par 3. I even used a 3-wood during training! There is a lot of wind on this hole, so club selection is critical. You mustn't push your luck. You need to aim for the middle of the green because par is easy from here. “
-
HOLE 15
PAR 5 / HCP 10
AI MIYAZATO - 2009 AND 2011 EVIAN MASTERS WINNER
“This par-5 is my favorite hole! The fairway is quite narrow all the way along, from the tee up to the green. On the second shot, you need to watch out for the bunkers and the overall slope of the fairway which brings the ball back to the left. The 3rd shot is important. The green has been totally altered. Only two hole locations are possible because of the severe slopes. Birdie is not easy, par is totally acceptable on this hole. “

HOLE 16
PAR 3 / HCP 13
LYDIA KO - 2015 EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER
"Hole 16 is actually quite a cute little par 3. It wasn’t playing so cute with the wind! On a fan’s perspective, it looks much shorter and easier than it plays. I have hit with a 6-iron into the front pin, 8, 9 irons if the wind’s behind me. The tee is a little bit more elevated than the greens so we are kind of hitting down towards the green but I think you know the best pin and normally the final day pin is in that left bowl on the left side of the green. I have seen a hole-in-one there, Mika Miyazato used the slope perfectly to her right and kind of fit it in."

HOLE 17
PAR 4 / HCP 8
LYDIA KO - 2015 EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER
"17 is not one of the longer par 4s on the course. It’s a dogleg to the right so you end up hitting a hybrid or a wood off the tee and then you know you position yourself with a 9, 8 iron. But that one is a very elevated tee and when the greens are soft, the balls end up spinning back towards you. So it’s hard to be aggressive because you don’t want to be long. But then if you’re short you can have a tricky slow upper putt."
-
HOLE 18
PAR 5 / HCP 15
LYDIA KO - 2015 EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER
"18 normally the tee is at the back but you know when we played the final two rounds in 2015, I think they put the tee a little forward so it made the hole a little shorter. But it’s not shorter when it’s in the rain! I actually bogeyed it the first three days. And then it was my first time birdying it. But I had a good drive down there. It’s a two-tiered green and I think it’s the final day location on the top tier. I had a good 7-iron in there and yeah I hit it perfect."
